DELE B2 Speaking Structure & Evaluation Criteria | OralPrep Guide

The DELE B2 speaking test (Prueba de Expresión e Interacción Orales) expects you to argue, describe, and react spontaneously.

The official timing is: 20 minutes in the exam plus 20 minutes of preparation (Tasks 1–2).

Structure of the DELE B2 Speaking Test

The test has three tasks:

1. Evaluate proposals (6–7 minutes)

You discuss 5–7 proposals to solve a problem. It includes a short monologue and a conversation.

  • Tip: compare options: “La mejor opción es… porque…”
  • Tip: show nuance: “Entiendo la idea, pero…“

    • 2. Describe a situation from a photo (5–6 minutes)

    You prepare this task. You choose one of two options, then you describe and discuss.

  • Tip: describe → interpret → give an opinion.

    • 3. Give opinions about a survey/news (3–4 minutes)

    This part is spontaneous. You comment on data from a survey or a short news item.

  • Tip: use opinion markers: “Creo que…”, “Desde mi punto de vista…”

    • Official Evaluation Criteria

    The evaluation is: Holistic (40%) + Analytic (60%).

    Task weights are official:

  • Task 1: 35%
  • Task 2: 35%
  • Task 3: 30%

    • Analytic criteria:

  • Coherence (Coherencia)
  • Fluency (Fluidez)
  • Accuracy (Corrección)
  • Range / lexical range (Alcance / Rango léxico)

    • Example: a strong opener for Task 1

    “Para resolver este problema, creo que la opción más eficaz es mejorar el transporte público. En primer lugar, reduce el tráfico. Además, es más sostenible. Sin embargo, requiere inversión y tiempo.”
